$300 Raised for HSGKC at GCIs Valentine’s Day Event

valentines-dayThe Committee of Awesomeness hosted a Valentine’s Day event on Friday 13, 2015, that raised $300 for the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City (HSGKC).

Committee members Marla D. and Jessie S. created Valentines that employees could purchase for their work pals for $1 for two weeks leading up to the annual day of love. Come Friday the 13th, Kyle L. and Brad M. put on some tights and strapped on some wings to transform into Cupids.

The dynamic o delivered almost 300 Valentines complete with candy to delighted Global Connections employees. All of the proceeds were donated to the HSGKC. The money raised will help the local animal shelter provide medical care, shelter and food for pets that had previously been fending for themselves on the streets after being abandoned.

“You all are awesome!” wrote Kate Fields, HSGKC Chief Executive Officer. “Without support like yours, we could not continue to save and improve the lives of the dogs and cats throughout our community.”

The Committee of Awesomeness (COA) is an employee volunteer group supported by Global Connections. The COA has 21 members and organizes monthly events, often raising funds for local charities.
