Global Connections Vice President of Acquisitions and Development, Dave Dawson, earned The Pinnacle Award from Cooperative Association of Resort Exchangers (C.A.R.E.) at the organization’s semi-annual conference in Annapolis, MD in May.
The Pinnacle Award is only awarded to individuals who have made a significant impact on the vacation industry, are committed to community service, have extensive experience in the vacation industry, and exhibit the highest ethical standards within the vacation industry.
Nominated by Linda Mayhugh of Advantage Travel, Dave’s years of volunteer efforts for major travel industry organizations like the American Resort Development Association (ARDA) and C.A.R.E. were recognized at the awards banquet. Dave has served on the C.A.R.E. Board since 2009. As Marketing/Revenue Generation Co-Chair, he helped establish the C.A.R.E. Gives Back Volunteer opportunity.
“C.A.R.E. Gives Back provides members with an opportunity to give back to resort communities through volunteer efforts such as beach clean-ups, meal service at local shelters, and maintenance at youth and elderly daycare facilities,” Dave explained.
When it comes to ARDA, Dave has been involved on many levels, including serving on the ARDA Resort Management and Membership Development Committees, being an ARDA World Speaker and an ARDY award judge.
“Dave has contributed enormously to the vacation industry through his volunteer efforts…His work carries great ethical basis and his methodical and professional business acumen is beyond compare in our highly scrutinized industry,” Linda said in her nomination submission.
“It is a great honor to have received this award and I thank everyone who has supported me throughout the years, especially my coworkers at Global Connections without whom this would not have been possible,” Dave said.
Of the six total awards given since the Pinnacle Award’s inception in 2005, three have been awarded to Global Connections personnel for their outstanding commitment and contributions to the vacation industry.
C.A.R.E is a trade association established in 1985 by representatives of timeshare resorts who found that by exchanging vacation inventory among themselves, they were better able to satisfy their owners with increased vacation opportunities. C.A.R.E. member companies currently offer 2,500 vacation properties and service approximately one million vacation owners and members. C.A.R.E. is an international organization, with members throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and Australia.
