Global Connections encourages employees to get involved in the community. So when the Creative Department had the opportunity to compete in the very first American Advertising Federation of Kansas City (AAF-KC) Lip Sync Battle, three brave and talented ladies accepted the challenge without knowing what to expect.
The competition featured eight competing teams and was held at a local nightclub. Stacey G., Tiffany O. and Jessie S. dusted off their dancing shoes to prepare some pretty rigorous choreography for their song choices that included MC Hammer’s Can’t Touch This and TLC’s Scrubs.
They entered the contest somewhat last-minute under the team name The Pixel Chicks. The pressure was on to compete against teams who had been preparing for longer. And they trio had to perform in front of a crowd of their peers, consisting mostly of creative professionals from the Kansas City metro area.
“We entered spur of the moment when my friend and AAF-KC President needed a team,” Stacey explained. “Jessie and Tiffany were willing to do it instantly so how could we not!”
Lots of Global Connections co-workers came out to support the team, and the encouragement was greatly appreciated.
“I was actually pretty nervous,” said Jessie. “I didn’t think I would be because I usually do weird stuff, but it was fun.”
“It was a great way to get out of my routine of doing nothing on weeknights,” Tiffany added. “It was nerve-wracking at first, but once we got on stage, it was just a lot of fun.”
Even though they didn’t make it to finals this time around, Stacey, Jessie and Tiffany are already planning for the 2016 competition with more cast members from the department. Lookout, AAF-KC—the Pixel Chicks are just getting started!
