Guns N Hoses Draws Record Crowd

IMG_1966_BVGlobal Connections is a proud sponsor of the Kansas City Guns N Hoses Charity Boxing event, with Tom Lyons, Global Connections President and CEO, acting on the board and other staff planning the show for the last four years. This year’s boxing match was Saturday, November 14, 2015, the event’s 10th anniversary.

This milestone attracted a record number in attendance: 1,300! While we still wait to find out how much money was raised for the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment fund, we can share some fun details.

The night featured 12 bouts of police versus firefighters. To keep the record fair, only those bouts that were police directly fighting fire were counted in the overall total. The police proved victorious, winning 4 bouts to 3. (Some fights were fire vs. fire or police vs. police due to match ups: boxers are matched by size, ability and age for safety purposes.)

IMG_2710_BVIn addition to the fights, the evening included a silent auction, a live auction and 50/50 heads or tails, the latter two emceed by Tom.

This is the fourth year Tom and Stacey G., Creative Director have served on the planning committee with Jessie S., Graphic Designer providing the graphic design for the last two years. Each year the event gets bigger and better. For 2015, the addition of a PR firm brought more awareness through billboards, newspaper and magazine articles and television and radio appearances by committee members and boxers, which attributed to the increase in attendance.
